We love giveaways and treating our customers to something special. Unfortunately, these types of contests typically only allow for one person to walk away with the prize. We’ve been asked time and time again how our winners are chosen. We’ve listened and now we’re here to dispel the rumours! Let’s take you through the process of running a social media competition.
First things first, why do we run these competitions? Of course, we want to reward our loyal customers, but we also try and create a fun, engaging platform for you, the Woodlands shopper, to give us a little snippet of info about yourself. We want to know what you like, what makes you tick. If a certain competition received a lot of entries, we’ll keep posting similar social media competitions because we love making you happy.
Social media competition rules
If you’ve entered any type of competition you would’ve come across the phrase ‘T’s & C’s apply’ or even written out as ‘Terms and Conditions apply’. We try and make our social media competition steps as clear as possible but if any of the rules ever seem unclear, just ask us and we’ll happily explain the dynamics of the competition! At Woodlands we typically have shorter T’s & C’s for smaller campaigns and pages-upon-pages of rules for our larger giveaways (we have another one coming very soon so stay tuned). Just to simplify, some of the most important rules to include in a social media competition are:
- Details regarding non-monetary consideration
- The identity of the host/promoter
- Entry procedures and beginning/ending dates, including time and time zone
- Eligibility requirements
- An explanation of all methods of entry
- Date winner(s) will be chosen and notified
- Method of selecting a winner
- Method of selecting a winner (to avoid any appearance of impropriety, it is recommended that sponsors avoid conducting their own drawings or determining the winners of their own contests)
How we pick winners
We check each vote that come in personally, but the winners are picked by a third party to ensure transparency and fairness. Our winners are always chosen at random but reading a great engaging comment from our customers is sure to score you some brownie points. The same goes for our reviews! Remember to read the copy of the competition post very carefully for additional criteria to make your vote count: hashtags, page tags, page likes and competition post shares could be standing in your way of winning that next prize!
