Tis the season to be jolly with friends and family. Hosting a Christmas party can be a daunting task, but in the end, it’s so rewarding when you are having a wonderful time with amazing company. To help you host a successful meal, we are sharing some great Christmas party tips.
Christmas is in the air
The start of any successful Christmas party is to invite your guests – seems like a no-brainer but if you wait too long you may find that most of your guests are unavailable for the day! If you want to include a fun activity on the day, then consider doing Secret Santa, be sure to advise your guests of the game and to set a price limit to be fair. If your guests need any ideas on a gift, then share our Gift guide here.
Bring the joy of Christmas to your home with festive décor to set the mood of the party. If you feel a fresh tree is not worth the effort then make your way to Game at Woodlands to choose from a range of beautiful trees in green, silver or white. If your Christmas decorations need replacing, then @Home at Woodlands is the place to visit! Find stunningly beautiful decorations for the tree and even a classic tree topper when you browse their collection of decor!
Want to show more of your personality and stray slightly away from tradition? Check out Typo for their fun and unique tree ornaments – Yoda chilling on a Christmas tree will certainly impress any true Jedi!
The Christmas meal is a big deal.
Invite the scent of Christmas to your party by baking a batch of Gingerbread cookies, the scent of baked goods will easily set the Christmas mood, and this will also be the perfect snack for your guests to munch on.
If you have the recipes and all the ingredients, with a couple of Christmas helpers on board, then cooking up a Christmas meal is an easy task! We would suggest scouting for delicious recipes from Pick n Pay, it’s easy to make and you know where to find all the ingredients! Our favourite recipe has got to be the Festive Gammon recipe, this delicious dish is a must-have on your table! Keep things going with a round of refreshing drinks, be sure to check out our Woodlands Summer Magazine for some summer cocktails that would be perfect for the party.
Once the food is cooked, it’s time to set the table. Break out your fine dinnerware, if you don’t have any then pop by Home Etc for an enchanting set. No Christmas table is truly complete without Christmas crackers, find a box of delightful Christmas crackers with cool toys at Game. Add to the ambience with some classic carols playing in the background – you will never go wrong with Boney M’s Christmas Album.
Christmas Dessert and presents!
After a delicious Christmas meal, comes the dessert! There is no better place to get your desserts from than Woolworths at Woodlands. Their dazzling dessert range is enough to give anyone a sweet tooth, from their Christmas Cherry Genoa Cake to a Christmas Golden Fruit Pudding, try not to go too crazy here – we know it’s hard to resist!Keep the anticipation for presents high by entertaining everyone with a round of the classic family game of 30 Seconds, it’s a fun way to pass the time while you digest all the delicious food – visit CNA if you don’t already own one!
Don’t forget to capture all of those wonderful memories on the day, create your own photobooth so that you guests can snap a selfie or two. Prepare the photobooth by creating a section in your home with a solid colour backdrop and add fun props from Big Blue to use in the photos.
Once all has been eaten, drunk and played, it’s finally time to open presents! Have fun with your friends and family by guessing who got who for Secret Santa. Just in case someone forgets to bring their present, it’s nice to always have a backup present – we would suggest a Woodlands Gift voucher! The best part is, you can always use it later if no one needs it. 😊
